El Caminito
El Caminito
El Caminito, known as the Little Lane, is a pedestrian street from La Vuelta de Rocha. The name El Caminito comes from a tango song. The street El Caminito is very crowded and full of pamphleteers that will not leave you along often. The pamphlets are for the nearby restaurants which, from my experience, offer horrible food for above average prices. \r\n\r\nThe street is very commercialized, with many tourist shops which offer very good prices for tourist goods, such as mugs, sweaters, keychains and football jerseys and jackets. The most famous aspects of El Caminito are the zinc walled colorful houses that flank the street. The colors come from the historical aspect of the early settlers bringing multicolored plant pots to brighten up the neighborhood. The area is also home to the Boca Junior Football Club, which has colors yellow and blue.
